That is how many minutes my Grandparents have been married!! Today is their 60th Wedding Anniversary. I am so amazed by their amazing love and commitment to each other for 60 years. I can't fathom anything for 60 years, let alone meeting someone I might want to spend that much time with!! (hopefully one day, I just don't know anyone that fits that critera currently!! haha)

This should be a very happy occasion for them, and it is, but it is being followed around by this dark cloud. A little over a month ago my Grandfather was diagnosed with leukemia. They told him that because of his age (a mere 87!) they wouldn't treat it. Also, they said he probably only has a couple of more months to live. How's that for pretty crappy?! He is such a wonderful person and has been such a great role model for me, I am having a really hard time with it all. He has such a great attitude about things, still, though, which again speaks to just how amazing he is! He's pretty psyched that my Grandma will let him put as much butter on whatever he wants when he is eating now! He said he's glad he doesn't have to worry about that damn pesky heart disease crap anymore!

Anyway, here's to 2 amazing people spending the past 60 years together. Through good times and bad!!

Could you Ask For Much More?

AWESOME:
I was pleasantly surprised by the cool, crisp, mountain-like air as I was leaving school tonight. Every once in awhile the air smells so fresh and good, you just can't get enough. It must have just sprinkled a little bit before I left school. Reminds me of being in the mountains. It makes me want to curl up and cuddle and enjoy the brisk night.

NOT AWESOME:
That the wonderful night that I got to enjoy was a result of leaving school after 2:00 a.m. for the third night in a row this week. LAME!!!

Need a Break!

It's 2:45 (in the a.m.) and I am still at school! :( Granted, I did take some time to go do gate practice and go to Emily's going away party, but even still I'm pushing a 13 hour day right now. I keep telling myself that grad school will be worth it, eventually! Until then, my wonderfully comfortable bed is calling my name and I'm standing it up!

Oh BTW, it is STUPID windy out in Boulder and has been all evening and night. Very large (8-10" diameter) tree "branches" have gotten blown off and many are in the road. I can't imagine how things look after a tornado rolls through. The wind added one extra element of surprise at gate practice tonight. As a side note, I've never "gone early" on an NBL cadence gate before, but I sure did tonight, right up and over. Let me tell you, that damn concrete on the start hill hurts like hell to land on! I just hope that doesn't make me gun shy about my starts now!

K, enough of the randomness and back to work... :)

Random

  • People who steal things suck! I mean, I'm dumb for leaving a bike light and a fender that were easily removable on my commuter, but come on people, if it's not yours and clearly someone else's, ummm, then leave it alone, right? Seems simple enough to me. Oh well, I guess I learned my lesson.
  • I always forget how great XC riding is in Colorado in the spring and summer. I haven't been on and XC ride in a few weeks, went yesterday...The flowers were beautiful, the air smelled so crisp and fresh, and my legs actually felt good! Amazing since I haven't gotten to ride as much as I would like because of DUMB school!
  • Speaking of dumb school. I spent all day doing chemistry to add some amino acids together...for my summer student. Ughhh! I'm tired of doing tons of work for someone else! As a result, it's 10:30 and I'm just now getting to the presentation that I have to give tomorrow morning at 9:00. Awesome.
  • Lisa Myklak is ON FIRE!! She was up at the Teva Games in Vail this past weekend throwing down on the Big Boy jumps. Tonight at the Fix she hit the first jump in A line at the Fix. Awesome! She's been on fire on the race scene, too! Pretty much if a bike is involved and Lisa is on it...something great is happening, so take notes!! (Check out her site and bug her to update it!!!!) :)
  • Almost positive that my friend James and I found a place to live for next year...signing a lease on Thursday. Only looked at one house, like it, and got it. Seems too good to be true, this process always seems more painful than that. Hopefully moving into it in August is that easy, too...not likely! haha
  • Red is my new favorite color as evidenced by my new phone, my hot new pedals, and my bedroom. To think that I didn't even like the color not too long ago, and now I can't get enough. :)
  • Lastly for today...adding frozen raspberries to chocolate fudge ice cream is AMAZING! Try it!
