Strange Sickness

So, I started not feeling so hot yesterday evening, and by the time that I went to bed, my mid back was hurting really bad. It also hurt right between the bottom of my ribs in the front. Every time I would sit up or stand up, I would feel nauseous, too. I only got about 3 or so hours of very restless sleep and ended up staying home from school today to try to feel better. Needless to say, all I did all day was lay in bed. It really hurt to lay on my side or stomach, so I was reserved to trying to sleep just on my back. I still haven't eaten anything since we had Chipotle yesterday after the BMX race. Every time I try to eat, I almost hurl. I'm sure that's not helping my energy level at all. Ughhh. I really hope I feel better and can eat something when I get up tomorrow!

Back on the Bike

Pikes Peak BMX built up a nice indoor track down in Colorado Springs so a bunch of us MTBers headed down there to get some good dirt riding in this weekend. It was a lot of fun to be back on a bike after essentially 3 months off from injuries, a broken bike, and craploads of snow. I rode in the Girl Cruiser class which doesn't have much competition and then in the open MTB class where I was the only girl. I had some dumb shifting issues in the races with the boys, but it probably wouldn't have made a difference anyway, the boys are FAST! It was so good to be out racing again! I can't wait until next Saturday!!

I am feeling a little under weather now, though, so I was going to head to bed, but one of my new roommates is learning (apparently) to play the violin, and I guess practice session started about 5 minutes ago. I guess I won't be falling asleep until that is done. :( My head already hurts!!

So, ya, I still don't have a camera, so no pics from the weekend, AGAIN. Hopefully soon I'll get a new camera.

Super Solution

So, Lisa knows that I've been feeling a bit down and out this week, so she proposed a solution. She even provided solid data to prove her theory!

Needless to say, we are having a work on our manuals session tonight! Thanks Lisa!!

Ohhh So Nice!

Picked up my new XC training machine today!! Check it out... I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can ride it. Well, I have to build it first...so I guess the snow might melt before I actually accomplish that!! haha I'm a terrible bike mechanic! I have friends who are great, and I have watched and tried to learn, but, I still suck. :(

So, I am on Amazon.com today trying to figure out what to spend an $80 going away from my last job gift certificate on, and this "steal of a deal" item was in the left hand column. I would hope you would get free shipping! I guess you can buy just about anything on the internet these days!

Ab Workout Reduction Plan

So, I think the best thing about my new house is having Kevin as my roommate. I can definitely reduce the number of ab workouts that I have to do in a week due to all of the crazy laughing fits that we seem to be able to get ourselves into! (Some of you may only know Kevin as a hater, but he is also a freakin funny guy, too!)

Tonight we were both sitting at the kitchen table working on crap (it's the only place in the house we can steal the neighbors wireless from). Kevin (dressed all in black with his sweatshirt hood up) was walking back to the table and freaked out like he had legitimately seen someone in the backyard. He quickly realized that he had seen his own reflection in the window and then felt really silly! We had a good 5 minute laughing session just about that one! Later he reminded me that he is an only child and easily amused by things of this sort!! haha, thanks Kevin, for all the good laughs!

It's Snowing. AGAIN

My camera isn't MIA anymore, but it is broken, so I don't have any pictures of the things I'd like to have pictures of. Oh well. Research is going well. Most other things aren't. That's how it goes, though, I guess.

Yesterday we got a crew together to have a little snow slalom race at our local sledding hill. I wasn't feeling so hot after drinking too much and a good tear session the night before, but I gave it all that I had, which ended with a good endo and superman down the hill to fill my sleeves and pants with snow. A fitting end to a day where I felt like crap. It was a lot of fun to get to hang out with good riding friends and watch some of them (Steve Wentz, the race promoter) just kill it on both courses! Lisa was riding like she was in the mod class (mud spikes), but she had minimal tread regular tires on!

So, on Thursday I was supposed to get an order of 25 ml of bone marrow that I can get the stem cells that I work with out of. When I opened up the box, there was 60 ml!! While I was excited to have more (A LOT more) because it's really expensive, it pretty much monopolized over half of my day, and used almost all of my stem cell "food" and the containers that I have to put them in. Hopefully this procedure to isolate the stem cells from the marrow all works out because that sure was a lot of work! I'd never seen bone marrow before. It's pretty cool, and cool to think that it contains cells that can turn into bone, cartilage, tendon, muscle, skin, and fat!

Well, like the title says, it's snowing again. Ughhhh! Maybe I'll just curl up with a good book and go back to bed. I'm not feeling up to doing much at all!

New Year's Snow Drift

Here is the snow drift that TJ and I spent nearly 2 hours digging my doesn't-like-the-snow car out of. It doesn't look nearly as bad as I remember it being!

Crazy Cross Training

The title might imply that I had a fun weekend of skiing or something like that, but that's not the case! I spent ALL weekend moving, which always sucks. However, I did get a crazy workout from having to shovel driveways so my car could actually get in and out at the new place, doing some pretty heavy lifting at a crazy number of repetitions, and climbing enough stairs to make my calves super, super sore! I guess the good thing is that even though I didn't get to enjoy any of our newest snowfall, at least I got some "cross training" in while moving into my awesome new house!

40 mph winds today! Crazy!!

Poor Poor Car

So, yesterday my friend TJ and I left our friend Matt's house in Southern, CO to come back to Boulder after a super fun couple of days celebrating New Year's in La Veta, CO. They had a lot of snow where we were, but they had gotten the roads plowed pretty good. Unfortunately the wind started blowing and the snow drifts across the road started to form. Well, I am an idiot and apparently a not very good driver, and I got us stuck in a snowdrift that took us nearly 2 hours to dig ourselves out of. Luckily, TJ is brilliant and came up with a plan that involved chains for the tires (that he brought), the car jack, A LOT of digging with the snowshoes turned shovels, and some traction sticks and branches thrown in for good measure! We didn't have to drive very far to get out of the drifts, but it was probably the slowest forward progress through 25 feet that I've ever experienced! I'm just glad that TJ was with me, otherwise I would have probably been sitting there all day hoping someone would drive along and help me! (I think TJ might have gotten a picture of the snow drift as proof of all of our hard work. My camera died yesterday and has since gone MIA, so I might have a picture for you if I can get some from him.)

So, after my poor little underpowered car had a rough day yesterday, I parked it in the driveway of the house that I live in for the next 3 days. I woke up to quite the surprise this morning! I tree at least a foot in diameter had uprooted itself and fallen on my car!!! Ughhh. One more thing to deal with! Sorry, no pictures of that, as I had to get my car out of the driveway while I had help at home to hold other large fallen branches out of the way.

Well, I hope that everyone else's 2007 is going a little better than mine has been in the last two days! The first 2 days were awesome, on a much better note! :)
