I HATE doing my taxes. I usually put it off every year, and this year was no exception. I finally got around to finding all of the paperwork I needed and getting it done this weekend. Brian was kind enough to spend hours helping me do them, and he managed to get me all of my taxes back!! I guess it was well worth the time and effort spent! :) Hopefully the race season will be a little more interesting now!
I guess there were two highlights to my weekend, actually. A bunch of us got together for Dim Sum today, and afterwards I went a super shopping spree at the Viet Hoa Supermarket. It was glorious! The major find for the day was everything I need to make Boba Milk Tea at home...even the straws! :)
Well, I'm sure there were actually some others, but those were the major players this weekend.
Back to the grind! Five more weeks of school, one more lecture to give, and one more major presentation, then it's race time!

Spring Break
Hahaha. Well, it's been spring break for most people who go to CU, but as a grad student I don't really get any time off for spring break. I am, however taking the day off today. It's a "university holiday", so I figured I deserve the day off. I don't have anything brilliant planned for the day, I'm just going to catch up on a lot of things I've been putting off for lack of time to do them! :) Happy Friday!

Shut Out
Yesterday I had the opportunity to go to an Avs game. You might be thinking, big deal, lots of people go to Avs games all of the time. You'd be right. Where you'd be wrong would be in where the seats were...Row 1, Seat 6. Yes ladies and gentleman, those are the seats that only have the 1/2 pelxiglass between you and flying puck!!!!! A series of fortunate events (well, fortunate for me) led to me going to the game with Joey and his dad and girlfriend.
I've never been to a game before, and now I'm completely spoiled!! The game was awesome, the Avs beat the Flames 2-0. I didn't grow up watching hockey, so I don't quite know "what's going on" like I do in basketball and football, but I picked up quickly with some good teaching from Joey. I could go on and on, but I'll just suffice to say that seeing a game like that so up close and personal was awesome! Thanks Joey!!! (AND Brian!) :)

Cody and the Snot Rocket Kids
Headed out to Grand Junction and Moab this weekend to do a little riding. Cody wins the award for most ridiculous stuff ridden up and down, and Abby wins the award for best snot rockets all weekend! Cody didn't have a chance for winning that contest, as the sight of snot makes him throw up instantly!
Abby, Peter THE Freshman, and I headed out to Grand Junction to stay with my friend Mike Howse on Thursday night. Got a good ride in on the Gunny Loop in GJ on Friday (Peter pointed out that the ride was a little M.C. Escher like...I don't think we ever went downhill. Okay, we did, but it didn't seem like it matched the amount of climbing we did at all!) We got done just before the storm rolled in. We made a quick stop at the liquor store to stock up before we got to lame ass liquor law Utah.
We got into Moab in time to sort out a great campsite and get camp all set up before it was too dark. We had an excellent pasta dinner and then started drinking! Not much beats a campfire, some good beer, and great laughs with awesome folks! Granted, most of those laughs were provided by Abby with her drunk calisthenics, lunges, high kicks, and dark highway sprints. Peter and I just stood by and laughed as she had a late night exercise adventure. Apparently we were being too loud (BEFORE the late night excercising). While we were just sitting around the campfire laughing, some cranky lady came over and told us we were being loud. We thanked her and carried on with our evening! :)
On Saturday, Cody and Forrest drove up from Durango to show us how to ride our bikes! We rode the Amasa Back trail and were treated to short sleeve weather and awesome riding!! What a fun playground to get to spend the day on!
We treated ourselves to dinner at the Moab brewery and then a couple of growlers for the evening campfire! The next morning we headed up to the Sovereign trail. What an awesome trail!! We didn't get to ride the whole trail, so I'll definitely be heading back there to ride that trail again sometime (hopefully) soon.
On the way home, we were treated to the atics of Abby once again!
What a much needed and very good weekend!

Abby's fail-proof method to get rid of drunken hiccups! (Peter dropped her 2 seconds later!)

Gettin' the Cobwebs Out!
My buddy Rudy called me up and invited me out to ride a little single slalom today! Rudy built a sweet track a couple of years ago, and now he's added on a bit for three slalom training options. It's a pretty sweet place to ride. I didn't have time to snap any pics today, as I was trying to get as much riding in as I could with the recent hour addition of daylight, but here's a couple of pics from awhile back.
Lisa's out in Cali this spring so there won't be any happy hour margaritas followed by slalom training (thank goodness for me, as you can see in the following video)! haha Good times, good times. :) How to and not to ride the slalom track...

Experiments
Well, as usual my experiments in the lab haven't been going so well, but...last week's "set up some friends on a blind date" experiment seems to be working splendidly! :)

Randoms
- Although I've grown not so fond of the snow in Boulder recently, the Flatirons are rather beautiful when they are snow covered.
- Last week sucked. I worked 84 hours. That's $5.15 an hour. Awesome.
- Reasons I love Eldora:
- It takes 30 minutes to get there from my house as long as some slow driving idiot doesn't prevent me from driving up the Canyon at the rate I prefer to drive
- There is rarely ever a lift line.
- It takes 2 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the lift.
- AND the number 1 reason...you often have the whole run just to yourself! Today, in fact, I had 5 runs ALL to myself.
- Now, reasons I hate Eldora:
- The runs are short
- The wind usually howls like mad
- Said wind sometimes causes the runs to become like ice skating rinks all the way down, even though they got 10" of new snow on Sunday! (this was the case today, when I was up there!!)

Arenacross
Headed out to Arenacross with the 40th St. Productions boys: It was full of exhaust fumes, loud noises, and an all around good time!! Man, those corners are super tight. It's pinned to shut down in 2 seconds!!
